It’s been a while since I’ve been able to blog. Let’s see… oh wow, the last one was over a month ago from Kansas City! Ok, what’s happened since then; first off, I got a promotion at my job! I have been promoted to a store manager for Steinhafel’s, and I manage my own mattress store in Brookfield, WI. Steinhafel’s is known for furniture mainly at their large stores with showrooms over 1 acre in size, however they do have 8 (soon to be 9) smaller stores dedicated to mattresses only. The store I have been tasked with running is usually about the 4th or 5th busiest, but has potential to be number 2 or 3, maybe even #1 with enough focus! This is also the way I fund my baseball experiences. I have since shifted focus to one job, and have left my part-time job at Best Buy. After 7 years, it wasn’t easy. I was fortunate enough to work with Superfan Handy Jay almost daily at my current store, and it is where the Superfans were originally formed back in 2006. In fact, the majority of the Milwaukee Superfans have at one time worked at Best Buy. It wasn’t easy leaving, and as I left, I also let go of my fan cave video idea. I still have 6 months to come up with something, and I will make sure it is as awesome as the original idea.
In baseball news, Mike Fiers has been tearing it up for the Brewers! He stays calm, cool and collected under pressure, and his command of the ball has been outstanding. Keep going strong Mike, we’re here behind you!
And the best for last! Mark Rogers has been called up to the majors! Ever since I first met Mark in 2010 when he was a September call-up, I knew he was the type of player that has Superfan Support written all over it! He’s pitched in 3 games already, but due to some problems in the bullpen, has yet to find that elusive first win. Regardless, his last outting against Houston he went 7 strong innings while surrendering only one run. I am really proud and more than a little envious of the hard work he has put in down in Nashville, coming back from 3 surgeries, and putting in countless rehab innings to come back to the one place he belongs more than any other… the pitching mound at Miller Park.
Ok fellow Superfans, that’s it for tonight. Tomorrow, expect an exclusive player interview! Can you guess who? It wasn’t any of the guys I mentioned in the blog tonight, but he’s definitely a Superfan favorite!
