Having off on Mondays has its perks for players (and fans) alike. For players, it is a chance to slow down, catch your breath, and reconnect with your fan base. Meeting players outside of the park is a wonderful thing. Depending on the venue, you get a chance to interact with them on a level you just can’t get at the ballpark. For me, Legends of the Field always brings that great experience. Their latest event, out at their Delafield location, brought in Infielder Jean Segura on Monday May 6th. If you have been hiding under a rock, you probably wouldn’t understand how great this is. Jean has been one of the hottest hitters in the National League!
Superfan Handy Jay and I made our way out to Delafield for this event, and we were around 50th in line. Upon arriving, I had a ticket waiting at their counter, and Jay purchased his at that point because there were still a few left.
Now if you have never been in a Legends of the Field store, and you are a die-hard Brewers or Packers fan, shame on you! While waiting in line you get a chance to see some awesome art, autographed jerseys, pictures, and baseballs. Legends has figured out how to efficiently move the line at a steady pace while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. When you get close to the table, an employee takes your ticket, verifies what you are getting signed and where you want it, and what color or type of ink you want used. They relay this to another employee sitting next to Jean at the table, who gets the piece ready with the correct writing tool.
Also, they offer to take a quick picture of you with Jean, which is something that most of your other shops do not allow. This quick few seconds allows fans to capture the moment and appreciate it for a lifetime. The players don’t mind doing it, and all the fans have to do is crouch down and smile. (Hence, the high level of customer satisfaction). From there, you shake Jean’s hand, wish him luck this year, and take your item to the next table. Here another Legends employee will put a sticker on your item, verifying that this is an authentic autograph from the player. This little sticker reminds me of how Legends offers these opportunities to meet and greet with some very talented individuals, in football and baseball. How can you go wrong with an experience like this? All I can say, I’m really looking forward to their Braun/Aoki event on June 8th at their Mequon location. There are still a few tickets left, I suggest calling and ordering or even going to http://www.legendsofthefield.com and ordering online. Trust me, Ryan Braun is as excited for the event as I am! Connecting with the fans really helps solidifies everything he does as the face of our franchise. Aoki as well, who has been solid for our outfield, will be doing this publicly for the first time! More info to come in future posts!
